Work Processes:

Flawless operations are ensured through clearly defined work processes supported by well specified tasks, clear targets and unambiguous responsibilities.

PXO works with the organizing, executing and control aspects of work tasks as a starting point for improving and simplifying work processes. This is achieved in dialogue with client management and operating personnel to ascertain that plans meet overall goals and are practically feasible in the field:

  • Operating philosophies and strategies

  • Execution plans

  • Organization plans

  • Resource plans

  • Emergency plans

kompetansesikring

Competence Assurance:

Increasingly demanding requirements from authorities, clients, suppliers and shareholders as regards knowledge and experience require systematic and targeted competence development of operations personnel and other employees throughout their entire career.

PXO ensures that prevailing competence requirements are met and followed up through various measures:

  • Systematization of specific competence requirements

  • Development of model-based interactive management tools (portal solutions)

  • Harmonization of job descriptions

  • Development of training plans

  • Development and implementation of courses and practical training (incl. On the Job Training - OJT)

PXO increases awareness of safety barriers and their functions as a means to improve efficiency and safety in operations.

Simulatorbasert

Simulator-based training:

Training, analysis and consultancy provide greater benefits when applying process simulators.

The exposure to a "near-realistic" simulated working environment enhances the benefits and provides a better overall understanding and operations safety. Everyday situations in the control room (CCR) can be recreated with the support of process simulators to assess and optimize work processes and measures to reduce operations risk, loss of efficiency and impaired safety in production facilities.

During normal operation on a plant, competence can be lost due to routine work and too few challenges. Through control room-based training and practice applying simulators, critical events may be simulated, solutions practiced, and knowledge kept up to date.

Governing Documentation:

Demanding requirements require that governing documentation and supporting documentation for start-up and operation, including maintenance and conversions, must be in order from the start of new facilities and kept up-to-date throughout the operating period.

PXO processes and develops such documentation for all project phases based on field operator's background material combined with PXO's experience and knowledge.

Typical documents are:

  • Philosophies and strategies for operational preparations and operations

  • Technical descriptions of equipment, systems and entire facilities

  • Operating procedures for all operating phases

Through preparation of operating documentation, with systematization, simplification, reformatting, translation (English/Norwegian) and adjustments, all relevant requirements are duly taken care of.

PXO also reviews existing documentation and adapts to new requirements. This is particularly important for coordination and standardization upon taking over operatorship for new production fields and facilities.

Kontrollrom

Control Room (CCR) Solutions:

Workload in control rooms must be carefully assessed to ensure efficient operations.

Tie-in of fields and re-building, new wells, more equipment and more demanding management and reporting requirements may result in increased workload in the control room. The PXO carries out a systematic review of work tasks and assesses the workload in the control room and for the operators individually using various techniques and working meetings with operating personnel and proposes work-reducing measures. This will strengthen efficiency and safety for personnel and assets alike.

Business Management Systems (BMS):

Efficient and safe operation puts significant demands on the control systems, where integration between people and equipment is essential.

PXO develops operations solutions with topologies and systematics as a basis for control systems for the entire business, a field/plant unit,  production equipment or a specific technical system to manage production fields/plants and facilities. The solutions are made compliant with recognized supplier solutions for seamless integration.

Change Management:

Planned and unplanned changes happen all the time. To succeed with changes, clear goals, implementation plans and commitment are required.

Organizations are social systems made up of people requiring individuals and groups to cooperate for achieving common goals. It requires frequent changes as conditions change, which may be managed through a number of measures:

  • Goals and implementation strategies

  • Tasks and technology

  • Organizational structure

  • Organizational culture

  • Organizational demographics

  • Communication, decisions and learning

  • External influences including authority requirements

PXO has developed its own working models for rational solutions.

Personnel Assistance:

Resource needs will always vary in project and operations organizations. Therefore, flexibility is often required to manage demanding temporary resource situations.

PXO assists with technical operations personnel for assignments both offshore and onshore. Such personnel will normally form part of the client's own work groups and comply with the framework and requirements that apply there - and are normally managed by the client.

  • Control room operators

  • Field operators

  • Simulator instructors

  • Disciplinary staff for projects and operations

  • Operations advisors

For projects that are still in the design phase, available information from the design is used as a basis for the work. This would typically be the Design Basis supported by other information, such as GAs, PFDs and P&IDs in addition to F&G and C&E Diagrams.

For projects already in operations, the same documentation is used with the addition of other relevant operations documentation and new field experience.

For both types of projects, cooperation with the responsible technical and management personnel is essential for success.
